Croatian techno duo DBFB has released a new EP under the title Stones. They present four tracks of groovy Detroit-influenced techno with avantgarde funk turns.

SMALL STONE Original mix
Although simple at the first sound, the song is layered resulting in a tapestry of audio textures. The result is subtle but rich noise texture laying the foundations for the simplicity of bouncy melody. Repetitiveness in melody is bridged by plexus of noisy details. These details carry the development/growth.

SMALL STONE Orion remix
Remix was done by the Finnish recording artist, DJ and radio host Orion who is the head of the label Absence of Facts. Vocal snippets reminiscent of British grime add a touch of hasty playfulness to the melody, simultaneously accentuating the rhythm. This remix develops the original in a way that successfully preserves the backbone of the song yet alters it into such a fresh and groovy render. Great remix.

STEPPING STONE Original mix
This song brings somewhat dubbish take on Detroit techno with a groovy bass line and specific synth line in the role of vocal. Quickly evolving melodies pour over sound patterns into something new as soon as we pay attention to them. Leaving us no time to adapt, we can only enjoy the perfectly developed stages of this little dynamite.

STEPPING STONE Phillip Petit remix
Step into this avantgarde SF funk adventure by Philippe Petit. It’s a nontypical techno combination of more organic sounds – guitar-like melody lines almost reminding of tango (and some French vibe in
the form of accordion-like sounds) - and 606 grooves. Petit is France-based, Belgian techno DJ and producer who runs two labels Knotweed Records and Decision Making Theory. Amazingly skilled,
fresh, and funky remix. Like it was made for summer.
